To help improve your saving money habits, here are some advice on spending and saving.

A great way to help save money is to create a budget. The sooner you start working out abudget, the easier it will be for you. Start by writing down all sources of income and across it list down your expenses. Certain costs are fix while others are flexible and only you know how much money you'll need for each item. A budget will allocate a certain amount to these expenses. Once you've made one, stick to it. By tracking where the money is going, you will be more aware of your spending habits, and eliminate unnecessary spending.

Don't buy things you don't need. When shopping, avoid compulsive purchases and onlybuy what is on your list. If you find something you want, hold off on the purchase. If itis something you really need then think of ways to earn extra money so you can buy it the next time you go to the store.

At home, carefully look at your consumption patterns and identify items that you can dowithout in exchange for that something you want. Review such items as your utilities, insurance, cable bill, telephone bill, entertainment expenditure, brokerage services, and cars. Look also at your food expenses, you will save a lot by preparing home-cooked meals instead of eating out. Another way is avoiding convenience stores and buying things that you regularly need in bulk.
If you have kids, consider buying less toys and choose the less expensive ones. Instead of buying you can actually swap toys with other kids in your family or friends. This way you can also teach your kids the value of money. Studies have shown that most kids develop their money habits by age 13.

Set aside a reasonable amount of money for miscellaneous expenses and whatever amount leftover should be placed in your savings. You can also allot these cash savings to an investment account.
